NEWS HIGHLIGHTS

At our first general meeting of 2024, we voted in 3 new members: Cynthia T., Kirk J., and Dennis C.   Cyndi and Kirk were initiated into the Lodge on February 18th!

At our February meeting we voted on FIVE new applications!  Chrissy and Penny D, Desiree D, Tom H, and Steve P.  We are thrilled to have you among us.

Välkommen!

Several of Svea's members - Gary and Sarah Larson, Cheryl Brown, Linda Graffius, and Pat Bellingham did some traveling PR work in the Erie Community.  On December 6th we went to a meeting of the Torch Club at the Kahkwa Club.  Gary did a presentation of Swedish Christmas traditions to the group.  What better to showcase Swedish traditions than pickled herring and glogg!  Dressed in Swedish attire, the ladies passed out samples of each to the meeting goers.  We were such a hit that we were invited to the Springhill Retirement Center and again shared those traditions with residents!

Our new website has garnered new friends - from Sweden, DL #19, Lodge #452 Goteborg, Sweden!  They, as well, have a District convention and our friend, Lars Andersson shared pictures from their event from May 17-19, 2023.

In the top right photo, Grand Master, John Hanright is holding the book, Gothenburg 400.  It is a beautifully illustrated history of Gothenburg covering 400 years!  Many of our Swedish families immigrated to America, starting their journey west from Gothenburg.  Tore Kellgren brought the book back to America and mailed it to us as a gift from Lodge Goteborg #452!  Heartfelt thanks to our Sisters and Brothers in Sweden.
